Our Family’s Passion

Training English Labradors is our family's passion. As a large homeschooling family, we saw the importance of training our children in work ethic, business savvy, and usable skills. In 2013, we purchased our first pair of English Labradors and Duty Dogs was born. Our niche was to train Diabetes Alert Dogs; having a son with Type 1 diabetes, we understood the peace of mind a service dog could bring to a family. When Duty Dogs was launched in 2013, our oldest of six children was 15 and the youngest was 2. Training labradors was the perfect business for our family-- there was something for everyone to do! The older kids quickly learned how to train dogs, the rest of the kids were excellent at socializing and bomb-proofing our dogs and puppies. Lots of loud noises and unexpected movements are excellent training grounds for puppies. And all the kids got to pick up Dog Logs! Now, over a decade later, we have raised half of our family and over 100 English Labradors! Many of our English Labradors are assisting people as service dogs of all kinds-- Diabetes Alert Dogs, PTSD dogs, Autism dogs, Psychological Support dogs, Crohns dogs, Mobility Assist dogs. Each of our children are competent dog trainers and the adults have an English Lab of their own. We are very partial to English Labradors. English labs have the perfect temperament for service work-- they easily settle and disappear under a table, but they're ready to go when you want to play! We love our labradors!
